In this test we use front-end scripting technology offered by your website browser’s core to preload any valid image file straight into HTML5 canvas element. We can then easily obtain essential properties of that image including pixel width and pixel height dimensions which are the key variables to determine the aspect ratio of any rectangular.

By evaluating the relationship between width and height of your image, we can quickly determine and display the aspect ratio value of any image.

General tips:

• Pre-crop your image prior to uploading the file because any margin will be included into the calculation of aspect ratio. This should not have any effect in case your image has universal border thickness, but any deviation from that might spoil the aspect ratio detection results.
• You can quickly snap a photo of any area in your screen by utilizing feature called “Regional Screenshot”. This works by pressing “Windows + Shift + S” in Windows or Shift-Command-4 on Mac.

The aspect ratio is measured between the corners of your uploaded image. It is fine if your image is larger than a preview screen of this test, because we can maintain aspect ration when resizing the image file for preview purposes.
